About the GPC WM

The General Practitioners Committee West Midlands is a committee set up to promote and represent general practice in the West Midlands. It is a group drawn from all the Local Medical Committees (LMCs) in the West Midlands as well as the fields of education, training and prescribing.

Various NHS bodies consult the GPC West Midlands about primary care. The GPC West Midlands provides support to LMCs and organises training courses and seminars throughout the year. There are eleven LMCs in the West Midlands NHS region.

The LMC is a committee set up by law to represent general practitioners and advise the Strategic Health Authority and Primary Care Trusts on matters relating to GPs and general practice. They also provide help and advice to doctors, and others.
